Ingredient intelligence

The recipe's
the easy part.

It's the ya cai, the Aleppo pepper, the Chinese sesame paste you can't find anywhere. Mise sources the ingredients you can get — and for the ones you can't, finds a substitute that tastes the same, and tells you why. So you can finally make it.

Selected dishes

each needs an ingredient you can't easily buy
The method

A recipe, turned into a basket you can actually fill.

01

You bring the ambition

Paste a link to the dish you've been circling — the dan dan noodles, the muhammara. We read only the ingredient list. The method stays with the cook who wrote it.

02

We do the sourcing

Every ingredient, matched to a real product from a real merchant — priced, in stock, and ready to ship to your door. No substitutions you didn't ask for.

03

We rescue the impossible one

The ingredient no shop carries? We don't shrug. We find the closest thing in flavor — molecule for molecule — and show you exactly why it stands in.

The science

We don't guess.
We cite.

Every swap Mise makes traces back to a number in a published model. No vibes, no “this is sort of like that.” Epicure read four million recipes and mapped the actual aroma compounds of 1,790 ingredients into a single flavor space. When we substitute, we hand you the nearest neighbor in that space — and the match score is the real distance between the two.

How it's fulfilled

The fine print, said plainly.

Who actually sells me the food?
Real merchants on Shopify. They list the product, they ship it, they get paid. Mise holds no inventory and never handles your money — we only help you find what to buy.
So how does checkout work?
When you build your basket, we hand you off to each merchant's own checkout. You pay them directly, on their store. Mise is the introduction, never the storefront.
Do you mark anything up?
No. You pay the merchant's listed price. (One day, shops may pay to be featured — always held to the same in-stock, real-product bar. Not today.)
What happens when there's no good swap?
We tell you. “No confident substitute” beats a bad guess every time. A few specialty things you'll still need a specialty grocer for — and we'll say so plainly.
What do you do with the recipe I paste?
We read only its ingredient list to build your basket, and we link back to the source. We never reproduce the method, the photos, or the words.
